You can do this by simply removing the fabric from the dye bath and letting it air – dry in the open. The oxygen in the air will cause the oxidation to occur.
Once the fabric is dry, it’s time to rinse it. Start by rinsing it in cold water to remove any excess dye. Then, gradually increase the water temperature to lukewarm. Keep rinsing until the water runs clear.
Post – Treatment
After rinsing, you can do a post – treatment to further improve the color fastness of the fabric. You can use a fabric softener or a fixative agent. These products help to lock in the color and make it more resistant to fading.
Just follow the instructions on the product label for the best results. Usually, you’ll need to soak the fabric in a solution of the fabric softener or fixative for a certain amount of time, and then rinse it again.
Troubleshooting
Sometimes, things don’t go as planned when dyeing. If you notice uneven color on the fabric, it could be because the dye wasn’t evenly distributed in the dye bath or the fabric wasn’t moved around enough during the dyeing process. You can try re – dyeing the fabric to fix the issue.
